All-on-4 Dental Implants

People missing most or all of their teeth struggle not only with how they look, but when eating and speaking, as well.

With the All-on-4® technique, a full set of custom dentures can be anchored using just four strategically placed dental implants.

Learn how Jewel Dental Associates in Flushing, NY, can restore your smile.

What Is All-on-4? Understanding the Basics

The All-on-4 method differs from traditional implant placement in a number of ways:

Support for a Full Denture

All-on-4 is used to support a full denture for people missing most or all of their teeth. Patients can undergo All-on-4 for replacement of upper or lower teeth.

Just Four Implants Needed

The All-on-4 system is aptly named. It supports a full denture using just four implants. Careful planning and modeling determine optimal dental implant placement.

Immediately Functional

Once All-on-4 dental implants are in place, they can immediately support a full denture, though care needs to be taken while you heal. The final custom denture will be crafted later to finish treatment.

All-on-4 Implants vs. Traditional Implant Dentures Comparing Your Treatment Options

Both All-on-4 and traditionally-placed implants are good options for treating extensive tooth loss. Let's compare how each works and why one method may be better for your needs.

Traditionally-placed implant-supported denture

Traditional Implants

With traditional dental implants, five or more implants will be required to secure a full denture in place. Bone grafting may be needed in cases of jawbone atrophy. Before placing the denture, patients will need months of healing for complete osseointegration.

All-on-4 implant-supported denture

All-on-4 Implants

With the All-on-4 technique, Dr. Feldstein places four implants at an angle to create a more stable base of support for your denture. While patients still need several months to recover from surgery, the reduced number of implants usually allows for an easier recovery. Additionally, it is also often less expensive.

Have You Been Told You Don't Qualify for an Implant-Supported Denture?

People who have been missing teeth for a long time often grow frustrated dealing with traditional dentures day in and day out. Regrettably, by the time they decide to get implant-supported dentures, they discover they no longer have the bone mass needed to support them. It's an unfortunate fact that bone loss goes along with tooth loss, and wearing dentures accelerates the process.

All-on-4 dental implants may be a solution. If you lack good bone in the back of your jaw but still have sufficient bone quality at the front, Dr. Michael Feldstein may be able to use All-on-4 implants so you can achieve your dream of implant-supported dentures.

Can the All-on-4 method fulfill your dream?

Experience That Makes a Difference

Dr. Feldstein has placed over 4,000 implants

Dr. Feldstein has over 40 years of experience treating tooth loss. During this time, he has personally placed more than 4,000 dental implants. This includes All-on-4 dental implants as well as traditional implants. He always uses the latest technology when placing implants, putting patient care and satisfaction first.

Budgeting for All-on-4

The Cost of All-on-4 Treatment

On average, the cost of All-on-4 implant dentures is approximately $18,000. This covers the implants themselves, as well as the prosthesis. There are added costs if additional surgery and preparation are required. Some practices only perform part of the All-on-4 process. Jewel Dental Associates performs all aspects of implant placement, including tooth extractions and bone grafting. This saves patients time and money. Dr. Feldstein will be glad to provide you with an estimated cost of treatment based on your unique dental needs.

Paying for All-on-4

Most dental insurance plans will contribute to the cost of your dentures and your preparatory work, but they do not cover dental implants. We accept CIGNA Dental Care (DHMO), CIGNA Dental PPO, CIGNA Traditional, Delta Dental, Careington, and Aetna. If we are out-of-network for you, our staff will coordinate with your provider for reimbursement. To help you budget for any remaining out-of-pocket expenses, we offer financing through CareCredit® and other lenders. During your consultation, our staff can help you explore financing options.

How Much Are Simple Pleasures Worth?

All-on-4 dental implants are an investment not only in your health but also in the simple pleasures of day-to-day life, from an enjoyable meal with friends to passing conversations on the street. Implants also keep your jaw strong and let you avoid the complications that go along with traditional dentures.

While the price of All-on-4 may initially seem out of reach, even with insurance coverage, you may quickly discover that when payments are spread out over time that they can fit neatly into your monthly budget. If you have large out-of-pocket costs or lack insurance, flexible financing through CareCredit® can help split payments into more manageable monthly costs.

To find out if you qualify for All-on-4 and what your treatment will cost, request a consultation at Jewel Dental Associates in Flushing, New York. Dr. Feldstein can assess your teeth, and our knowledgeable team can go over pricing and options for payment that will fit into your budget.

Are All-on-4 Dental Implants Right for You?

With careful screening, we can determine if All-on-4 implant placement is the best way to help you overcome the challenges of tooth loss. Here are some common criteria that we look for at our Flushing, NY, office.

Missing Many Teeth

The All-on-4 dental implant method is made for people who are missing most or all of their teeth. If one remaining tooth or several remaining teeth are severely compromised, we can perform extraction to prepare your jaw to receive an All-on-4 denture.

Sufficient Jawbone Density

Patients must have enough bone tissue in the jaw to support the four implants. Each time a tooth is lost, the jawbone tissue in the surrounding area will begin to recede. If you've suffered bone loss in the jaw, an additional bone grafting surgery is required. Once your implants are in place, they will stimulate the jaw to prevent further bone recession.

Good Overall Health

Patients should be in good general health. This means no adverse medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes, and the ability to undergo oral surgery with low risk of surgical complications.

Commitment to Long Term Care

After the implants are in place, patients need to practice good oral hygiene and follow aftercare instructions to avoid issues that make implant failure more likely.

The All-on-4 Implant Process A Patient Treatment Timeline

Each patient is different, and our Flushing team tailors each treatment to a guest's needs. The timeline below covers the step-by-step process for the All-on-4 procedure. We will provide a more in-depth breakdown of the process during your visit.

Initial Consultation

We will assess your health and suitability for All-on-4 implants. This will include digital x-rays, a review of your medical history, and a discussion of your concerns.

Planning Treatment

Using advanced planning software, we will determine optimal dental implant placement along the jawbone. This ensures short- and long-term implant success.

Implant Placement

The four implants are anchored into the jaw. Two implants are positioned diagonally to maximize stability and prevent further bone loss along the jaw.

Temporary Denture

Once the dental implants are placed, they can support a temporary denture. Though not the final appliance, it restores the ability to bite and chew naturally.

Osseointegration occurs over the next few months. The All-on-4 dental implants fuse with the jaw, creating a level of stability that is comparable to natural tooth roots.

Final Denture

The final denture is crafted using dental records and insight from the dentist. We work with Glidewell Laboratories to create a denture that not only restores function, but also provides a natural-looking cosmetic result.

Anchor a Full Denture With Just Four Dental Implants

Thanks to All-on-4 dental implants, a denture can be secured and fully functional in a single visit. This restores a patient's ability to bite, chew, speak, and smile. The cosmetic result can also provide a profound boost in confidence.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions About All-on-4 Treatment

How much does All-on-4 treatment cost?

The cost of a basic All-on-4 treatment is about $18,000. This covers the implants themselves, as well as the denture. Preparatory procedures (such as extractions or gum disease treatment), and variables such as the need for bone grafting or additional implants will increase the cost of your treatment. It's important to understand that basic dental insurance does not contribute to the cost of dental implants, but it may contribute to the cost of preparatory procedures and your dentures. To help you pay for dental care, we accept CareCredit® financing, insurance, and credit cards.

What is All-on-4?

A dental implant is a titanium device that acts as a replacement tooth root, supporting crowns, bridges, and dentures. All-on-4 is a treatment in which four implants support a denture on the upper arch, lower arch, or both. Treatment can incorporate more implants as needed to support the denture. The advantage of this treatment is that the special configuration of the implants—two vertical implants in the anterior jaw and two implants at 45-degree ranges in the posterior—can allow patients who would need bone grafting to receive traditional implants take immediate advantage of dental implant treatment.

How do I clean All-on-4 implants?

After undergoing All-on-4 treatment, daily oral hygiene doesn't involve cleaning the implants themselves. Instead, you should be brushing and flossing the replacement teeth of your denture in the same way you would care for natural teeth. During your six-month checkups with your dentist, he will remove your denture, assess the state of your implants, and clean the implants before reattaching the denture.

How long does it take to get dental implants?

It can take about 45 minutes to place each implant. In most cases, the four implants will be able to support a temporary denture right away. Although this will help restore the ability to enunciate and chew soft foods, it will not yet allow fully restored oral function. The implants will become integrated with the jawbone over a period of three to six months. Once this process is complete, you will receive a permanent denture, and you will be ready to enjoy steaks, apples, and all the other crunchy, chewy foods you love.

How long do All-on-4 dental implants last?

Because these implants are made with titanium, a material that safely bonds with bone tissue, your implants could provide incredible denture support for the rest of your life. The key to getting the most from your All-on-4 treatment is to maintain the best possible oral health. Brush twice and floss at least once each day, and make sure to attend your six-month checkups.
