Dental Bridges Improve the Form and Function of Your Smile
Restore Proper Function
By filling gaps left by a missing tooth or multiple teeth, a dental bridge can restore your ability to chew. Dr. Feldstein can precisely place your restoration to minimize the pressure on other teeth and protect against further health issues.
Maintain the Position of Your Teeth
When there are spaces in your smile, your other teeth are more likely to shift out of place. Our dentist can design a dental bridge to maintain the correct position of teeth to keep your smile aligned.
Restore Your Smile, Beautifully
Gaps in your smile can make you feel self-conscious enough that you avoid smiling in public. Our custom dental bridges blend in seamlessly so you achieve beautiful, natural-looking results.

How do dental bridges work?
A dental bridge sounds like a good option, but will it work for me?
Understanding Your Candidacy for a Dental Bridge
For a Traditional Bridge
Since traditional bridges are supported by dental crowns, patients interested in this option should have two strong, healthy teeth on either side of the gap in their smile. Dr. Feldstein is also skilled in a variety of other dental bridges, such as Cantilever bridges or Maryland bonded bridges, allowing flexibility in your choices.
For an Implant-Supported Bridge
Dental implants have a unique set of candidacy requirements, including sufficient jawbone tissue, healthy gums, and good overall health. Implant-supported bridges are increasingly popular because they don't require altering healthy abutment teeth to support the pontic that stands in for the missing tooth.
Confused About Dental Bridges?
At Jewel Dental Associates in Flushing, we understand that all the choices for dental bridges can be overwhelming. Not only are there traditional and implant bridges, but also types like cantilever bridges and Maryland bonded bridges, as well as different materials to choose from.

Your Timeline Will Differ Depending on the Type of Bridge You Choose
Traditional Bridges
Dr. Feldstein will reshape the abutment teeth on either side of the gap in your smile to make room for dental crowns. The crowns will hold one or multiple teeth, called pontics, which replace the missing natural teeth in the finished bridge.
We will take impressions of your smile and design a customized restoration. Dr. Feldstein may place a temporary bridge for you to wear while you wait for your final restoration.
A skilled dental technician will use the impressions to craft your bridge so it will blend in seamlessly with your natural teeth.
You will return to our office so Dr. Feldstein can check the fit and appearance of your bridge. He can make minor adjustments to the bridge in the office.
Once you are both completely satisfied with the effect, Dr. Feldstein will bond the dental bridge to your prepared teeth for a fully restored smile.
Implant-Supported Bridges
Dr. Feldstein, who has placed more than 4,000 implants, will perform any preparatory procedures you need for the procedure. Typically, an implant-supported bridge requires the dentist to place two or more posts in your jaw, which eventually will be connected to the dental bridge.
It takes about four to six months to heal from the surgery. Once your implants have fused with your jaw, Dr. Feldstein can attach the abutments and take impressions of your smile.
We will send your impressions to the lab, where a technician will create your implant-supported bridge. You might be fitted with a temporary in the meantime.
When the dental bridge is complete, Dr. Feldstein can make any necessary adjustments and attach your restoration to the dental implants.

A Common Treatment for Missing Teeth
OK, but can I afford a bridge?
Understanding the Cost of a Bridge
In general, traditional bridges are more affordable than implant-supported ones. However, dental implants offer a superior level of stability and a range of health benefits.
Our dentist, Dr. Feldstein, can sit down with you to go over your options so you can choose the right one for your unique needs. In general, crowns for an implant-supported bridge are $1,200 per tooth, and traditional bridges are $1,200 per tooth, including abutments and pontics.
The final cost of your dental bridge will depend on several factors, such as:
Number and Location of Missing Teeth
Larger dental bridges with several pontics will generally cost more than those that replace only one or two teeth. In addition, replacing molars at the back of your mouth is more complex and may require a stronger, more costly material to ensure proper strength.
Materials Used
Dr. Feldstein is skilled at using a wide range of materials to create restorations that are customized to your specific needs. In the molar area, the dentist often recommends using zirconia, which is prized for its strength. At the front of your mouth, all-ceramic bridges are an excellent choice when recreating a natural look is paramount.
Implant Surgery
If you opt to receive an implant-supported bridge, implant placement and any preparatory procedures you need, such as a bone graft, will raise the final price of your treatment. However, many patients find that the extra upfront investment actually saves them money in the long run due to the impressive benefits of implants.
