Dental Implants

Gaps left by tooth loss can make you feel self-conscious about your smile and interfere with eating, speaking, and other daily activities.

Dr. Michael Feldstein has over 30 years of experience helping dentistry patients achieve a functional, beautiful smile with dental implants.

Why should you trust our dentist to restore your smile with implants at our Flushing, NY, office?

Dental Implants Offer Unparalleled Support and Stability

A Natural Fit and Feel

During implant placement, Dr. Feldstein embeds the small titanium dental implants into the jawbone. In time, they actually become part of the bone structure, meaning your restoration will look and feel like a natural tooth.

A Better Functioning Result

Implants offer unrivaled support for restorations and allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Denture-wearers no longer have to worry about tooth restorations that slip and slide while they go about their normal lives.

A Healthier Smile

Implant-supported restorations mimic the function of tooth roots, stimulating the jawbone and preventing bone recession. Implants can keep your remaining natural teeth from shifting and prevent a sunken facial appearance, so you look younger and healthier.

Amazing Bone-Saving Benefits

When you are missing even a single tooth, your jawbone loses the stimulation the tooth root once provided and can begin to deteriorate. Dental implants are the only restorative procedure that can prevent jawbone atrophy. Implants can save you from needing bone grafting later in life and prevent other oral health issues, such as further tooth loss caused by a deteriorating jawbone.

Take a Look at the Dental Implant Process

The dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone. An abutment is then secured to the implant, which allows a restoration, such as a dental crown, to be secured to the implant. The implant provides much needed stimulation to the jawbone and maximum stability to your dental restoration.

Determining Your Candidacy

During your consultation at our office, we can take digital X-rays and scans of your jaw to assess your candidacy for traditional implants or All-on-4® implants. Dr. Feldstein can also sit down with you to discuss your medical history, as well as your preferences and budget for treatment.

If there is any reason implants are not right for you, we can likely address the issue at our office. The doctor will weigh factors like:

Jawbone Density

Dental implants rely on surrounding tissue for support, so you need sufficient bone in your jaw to receive implants. Dr. Feldstein provides bone grafts and sinus lifts at our Queens, NY, practice to restore your implant candidacy.

Gum Health

In addition to a strong jawbone, you need healthy gums for successful implant results. Dr. Feldstein is a member of the American Academy of Periodontics, meaning he provides comprehensive treatment to improve your gum health.

Overall Health

Diabetes and other medical issues can interfere with your body’s ability to heal after surgery. Be sure to discuss your full medical history with Dr. Feldstein so he can identify any potential issues and adjust your treatment plan.

Lifestyle Issues

Smoking limits your body’s natural healing ability and can increase the risk of implant failure. We recommend you quit using any type of tobacco if you do.

Treatment Timeline

While dental implants are a more involved form of restorative dentistry than some other options, the results are unmatched in their longevity and natural aesthetics. Here's a snapshot of what to expect during dental implant treatment at our Queens, NY, dental practice:
"Dr. Feldstein has placed over 4,000 implants for satisfied patients."
"Dr. Feldstein has placed over 4,000 implants for satisfied patients."

Consultation

The dentist will discuss your needs and goals for restoring your smile before performing a dental exam and taking digital X-rays. After determining if dental implants are right for you, we develop a treatment plan and go over your options for restorations.

Surgery

The first step in the procedure is placing your dental implants. The implants themselves are small posts made of titanium that are inserted into your jaw and act as tooth roots. The titanium implants will be the foundation of your new artificial tooth (or teeth).

Osseointegration

Over the next three to six months, the titanium implants fuse with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. The dentist will check up on your healing progress during this time to make sure you are recovering properly and schedule the next procedure.

Abutments

After the treatment site has healed, the dentist secures the abutment pieces during a minor surgery. Abutments act as the connection point between the titanium posts and the prosthetic tooth restorations.

Restoration Design

We will take impressions in order to craft an implant-supported crown, bridge, or denture. We send this information to our trusted dental lab to craft the highest-quality restorations from the materials of your choice.

Finishing Touches

When you are healed from the abutment procedure and your restoration is ready, you will return to the office for a final visit. During this appointment, Dr. Feldstein will attach the implant-supported tooth or teeth and check the overall look and fit. Any final adjustments are made and your treatment is complete.

Missing teeth can leave gaps in your smile. Dental implants restore form and function.

Do Implants Hurt?

The area will be numbed, so you will not feel any pain during placement. However, some discomfort following surgery is to be expected.

Managing Pain After Getting Dental Implants

Soreness can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers or prescribed pain medication. Ice packs and cold compresses can also reduce swelling and discomfort.

Your dentist will provide you with all the instructions you need to manage pain at home in the days following surgery. Once you are fully healed, your implant and restoration will feel just like your natural teeth. They should not cause you any further pain or discomfort.

What If My Pain Does Not Subside?

If you experience pain that cannot be managed at home, it is important that you contact us immediately so our Flushing team can help address your pain as soon as possible.

Maintaining Your Results

At-Home Care Is Easy

You can keep your implant-supported restoration in good shape the same way you keep natural teeth healthy: with regular, thorough brushing and flossing.

Unlike traditional dentures, your implant-supported restoration will be fixed in place so you will not need to take on additional tasks in your oral hygiene routine.

Remember to...

1) Brush and floss daily to remove food particles and bacteria that can lead to gum disease.

2) Use an oral irrigator (water flosser) to help remove debris from any hard-to-reach spots.

3) Attend biannual dental appointments for cleanings and exams

You Can Afford Dental Implants

Top Tier Care at Affordable Prices

In a straightforward case, Dr. Feldstein can perform a complete implant treatment, including placement and restoration, for $2,500. However, there are a variety of factors that can affect your final treatment cost at our Flushing office.

Number of Implants

At Jewel Dental Associates, a single implant typically costs $1,400, not including the restoration. However, if you need to replace multiple teeth, you will likely need more than one implant, increasing your overall cost.

Type of Restoration

While Dr. Feldstein can replace a single missing tooth with a dental crown, more extensive tooth loss will require a larger restoration. Crowns typically cost at least $800 at our practice. The overall cost of your treatment will also depend on the material used to craft your restoration.

Preliminary Procedures

Patients with gum disease, bone loss, or other issues may need preparatory procedures to ensure the success of their dental implants. We provide all stages of care at our office, saving you the cost and hassle of referrals. However, these treatments will add to your final price. You may be able to avoid preliminary procedures with All-on-4 dental implants, depending on your tooth loss and degree of bone recession.

Sedation

For patients who are nervous about their treatment, we offer nitrous oxide to help you relax during the procedure. In general, sedation is an additional cost.

Insurance Coverage

Each insurance provider has different rules about what they will and will not cover. You may receive partial insurance coverage, which can assist with out-of-pocket costs.

Paying with a credit card

Financing Your Treatment Makes Amazing Results a Reality

Many patients do not think that they can afford dental implants because insurance typically does not cover the procedure. However, there are options to make your up-front costs a better fit for your budget. We accept major credit cards to pay for treatment as well as financing through CareCredit®, which allows you to repay in monthly installments over the course of several years. Dr. Feldstein highly recommends dental implants for all patients who qualify. During your consultation, our team can help you find a way to budget for dental implants.
