Dental Crowns

A decayed or missing tooth can be painful and inconvenient and interfere with your normal activities.

A dental crown from our Flushing, NY, practice can cover your tooth to restore the natural strength and appearance.

So why are crowns such a great option?

Our Crowns Are Crafted from Advanced Materials to Restore the Health of Your Smile

Strength and Function

A dental crown from Dr. Michael Feldstein can restore strength to a damaged tooth and allow you to eat, speak, and smile properly.

Natural-Looking Results

At Jewel Dental Associates in Flushing, we craft our crowns from either dental ceramic or zirconia. Both these materials mimic the qualities of natural teeth. Dr. Feldstein can carefully design and place your crown so it blends seamlessly into your smile.

We can use a dental crown to treat a wide range of conditions, from concealing cosmetic flaws to replacing a lost tooth with a dental implant. Crowns are also used after a root canal or trauma to protect and support a damaged tooth.

Porcelain Is Incredibly Long-Lasting

"Porcelain crowns have a 94% survival rate at 8 years."

Our Flushing dental office uses the most trusted materials in dentistry to help your permanent crowns last as long as possible.

Crowns Can Address a Range of Issues

Weak Teeth

If a tooth has severe decay, a large crack, or other trauma, a crown can protect the surface and provide support to help avoid an extraction.

Broken or Worn Teeth

For a tooth that has already broken or has been worn down due to grinding or clenching, a crown can restore the proper structure and appearance of the tooth.

Teeth that Have Had Fillings or Root Canals

After a root canal or a large filling, a crown can cover and support what is left of your tooth to keep it healthy.

Severe Cosmetic Flaws

In some cases, Dr. Feldstein may recommend a crown instead of a veneer or other cosmetic treatment to conceal cosmetic flaws, such as discoloration.

Missing Teeth

If you are missing a single tooth, a crown can restore a dental implant to fill the gap in your smile. Crowns are also used to support traditional dental bridges.

Why Choose Jewel Dental Associates?

Dr. Feldstein uses advanced materials to create crowns which look natural and provide exceptional strength. The majority of our crowns are all-ceramic, zirconia, or zirconia with porcelain layering. However, we can also provide metal crowns for patients who need extra strength.

We Make Dentistry a Relaxing Experience

Our modern dental office is equipped with a digital X-ray unit as well as intraoral cameras, allowing our dentist to provide safe, fast, and comfortable diagnosis of your oral health issues.

We also want you to enjoy your visit to the dentist, so each operating room has its own flat screen TV and various music streaming services including Pandora and Spotify.

Restore Your Smile in Two Easy Appointments

Dr. Feldstein will examine your smile and determine whether a dental crown is the right treatment for you. He can also discuss the different materials we offer with you at that time.

We will remove the damaged or decayed section of your tooth to restore proper health.

Dr. Feldstein will reshape your tooth to ensure the crown fits comfortably into your smile without appearing too large or bulky.

We will make an impression and send the information to the lab.

Since it typically takes about two weeks for the lab to fabricate a custom crown, Dr. Feldstein will place a temporary restoration over your prepared tooth.

At your second appointment, Dr. Feldstein will remove your temporary crown and check the fit and appearance of your permanent restoration. He can make minor adjustments to ensure you are satisfied with the result.

Preserving Your Crown

There are several ways you can prevent unnecessary wear and prolong the lifespan of your dental crown, including:

  • Avoiding especially hard or sticky foods
  • Practicing good oral hygiene at home
  • Not using abrasive toothpaste
  • Flossing front to back (rather than up and down) to avoid loosening your crown
  • Always attending your bi-annual dental exams
  • Wearing a nightguard if you suffer from bruxism or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder
  • Not using your teeth as tools to open or cut items

During your exams, Dr. Feldstein will also check the fit of your crown and make any adjustments as necessary.

Treatment Costs Will Vary

At Jewel Dental Associates in Flushing, our normal fee for a dental crown is $1,200. However, some patients may only pay $800. There are several factors which can affect the cost of your restoration.

For a single missing tooth, an implant-supported crown offers incredible benefits.

Materials Used

Dr. Feldstein typically uses either dental ceramic or zirconia to create beautiful, lifelike crowns. While metal crowns tend to cost less, they do not offer the same aesthetic results. We can discuss your options with you to help you make an informed decision.

Level of Damage

If the decay or damage to your smile is extensive, you may need other preparatory procedures to improve your oral health before we place your crown. These treatments can increase your overall cost.

Location of the Crown

Crowns in the front of your smile are typically easier to place. If you need a crown on a molar, your treatment may cost more.

If an Implant is Needed

For a single missing tooth, an implant-supported crown offers incredible benefits. However, implant placement will add to your treatment cost.

Financing Is Available

While cost is important to consider, it should not prevent you from receiving your ideal treatment based on your needs and goals, especially if you need to replace a missing tooth. Dr. Feldstein highly recommends porcelain crowns for patients who are replacing anterior teeth.

If your cost exceeds your insurance coverage, Dr. Feldstein's practice can help you arrange financing through CareCredit®. We also accept payment using most major credit cards

Crowns Are a Common and Effective Dental Treatment

*According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention

Treating decay or damage promptly is crucial to protecting your smile against more extensive and costly issues. A crown can save your tooth.

Alternatives to Crowns

Depending on your needs, a number of different treatment options might be available to you. Dental fillings, inlays, and onlays are all more conservative solutions for repairing damaged teeth. Porcelain veneers are ideal for concealing cracks and chips, although they are better suited to the front teeth than the back molars. During a consultation at our Flushing office, our doctors can determine which procedure is the most appropriate for you.
